8 Mistakes to Avoid as a Female Entrepreneur
Congratulations, you’ve decided to begin your journey as a business owner!
You are now well on your way to creating the freedom lifestyle, financial security and time spaciousness that you've been envisioning. I am so excited for you.
It’s now time to grow your business and organize your money wisely. So that you can implement your big vision and begin to live it as your everyday experience.
Over the past 8+ years, I have worked with hundreds upon hundreds of business owners helping them grow wildly profitable companies. I've seen amazing wins and transformations. And I've also seen what NOT to do if you want to be a happy and relaxed entrepreneur.
Let me help you avoid some common financial pitfalls by sharing the eight most common mistakes I see female entrepreneurs make. Along with the mistakes, I will also share how you can avoid them and what to do instead:
You’re Trying to Do It on Your Own
Being a business owner can feel like learning ten professions at once and needing to master all of them in order to have your business take off. Between learning how to market, how to create offers, tax obligations, customer service, the delivery of your service or product… it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and struggle with your next steps.
That's why you need a coach or mentor and a community of creative business owners to support you. Imagine having a daily and weekly flow of exactly what to do to reach your income and profit goals. Imagine getting all of your questions answered in real time.
Many entrepreneurs think that they can grow their business isolation and spend years in stagnation or slow growth.
Make sure that you have the business guidance you need, along with a plan to implement your goals. This makes growing your business predictable, fun and easy!
You Don’t Have a Clear Picture of What You’re Creating
When I first connect with a new client, we create a vision of their very own version of money bliss. What would your ideal financial reality look like?
Together, we define your income, savings and net worth stretch goals. We talk about your business offers, pricing and marketing channels. Then, we map out a plan for you to get to your happy end result in the next 3-6 months.
Growing your wealth isn’t hard and it doesn’t have to take a long time. But you do need to know exactly what it is that you are creating and have a plan that will take you there.
You’re Letting Your Money Blocks Get in the Way
Do you have a complicated relationship with money? If yes, then you are in the perfect place because money wasn’t always blissful for me either.
Over the course of your life, you’ve accumulated many emotional blocks around money.
Money blocks can be…
Assumptions and stories about how money works (E.g. “Money always runs out.”)
Beliefs about who you are as you relate to money (E.g. “I am a spender.”)
Family money patterns (E.g. “It takes hard work to make money.”)
Emotional attitudes that prevent you from reaching your goals. (E.g. “I don’t like marketing.”)
…
It’s okay to have had some tough experiences with money. It’s also okay to doubt yourself when it comes to money.
But if there’s one thing I learned, it’s this: You can’t escape money. Money is the one thing you will have to deal with daily for the rest of your life. And in my experience, it is worthwhile to clear your emotional blocks around money. The greatest gift you can give yourself is to develop the skills needed to be an amazing money maker.
Don’t let this dark money cloud follow you through your life. Clear it, release it and go be the happiest, wealthiest, most relaxed person you know.
When you're ready, I am here to show you how.
You Don’t Have an Easy Yes Offer That Sells
If you're a business owner, you need an easy YES offer that sells and sells (even without a lot of marketing.)
Having an offer that clients love signing up for will make running your business a lot easier. You also need a perfect, memorable name and easy YES pricing options.
Before worrying about marketing and your website, make sure you’ve got your offer right!
Your Messaging is Confusing and Unclear
In order to begin marketing, you need messaging that is clear, inspiring and gets people to take action.
Think about the transformation you provide. Where are people before they discover your business? What do they struggle with? What are they already trying to resolve this? Why hasn’t it been working?
Then describe their happy end result. Why is your offer the best way to get there? Use these prompts to begin sharing about your business and you will begin to receive interest in what you have to offer.
You Don’t Have a Marketing and Sales Flow That Works
Marketing leads to sales leads to clients leads to money. It’s that simple! This is why marketing will be your top priority as a business owner.
You need a daily and weekly marketing flow that predictably gets you new leads and converts them into sales. Ideally, you would spend 2-4 hours actively marketing each day until you are at capacity.
You Resist Marketing
You may be resisting marketing because…
You don’t have a clear message and don’t know what to say
You don’t feel confident in your offer and pricing
You don’t have a sales flow that takes your client from one step to the next
You feel uncomfortable receiving money
You don’t want to be seen
…
Which of these apply to you? By the way, those are all just money blocks and they can be cleared.
You’re Not Keeping a Profit
As your business grows and you make more money, make sure to keep your expenses low. Remember the saying: “Income is vanity, profit is sanity, cash is king.”
Too many business owners “upgrade” their lifestyle as their income increases.
Instead, keep your profit and let it compound over time. This is how you turn your business into a wealth-building asset!
